It is happening

Hello! So I'm three weeks in with my project to shoot objects in my home (or wherever I may be staying) for the next 365 days, strangely enough entitled "Home 365." If you'd like to follow the progress, please feel free to click this link. Thanks. Enjoy the day! And, as always, click to englarge.

Inanimate

I'm very much considering a one-a-day project just in the home, trying to create something out of nothing for a year or so. Here's an example of something that might appear. Enjoy! Click to enlarge.

Friendly Beards

I don't post all the photos I create on this blog, but I do try to put some of the more enjoyable ones up. About a week ago I went to the "Get Your Beard On" All American Beard and Mustache Contest in Somerville, MA for the second year in a row. Its a really fun event and they used a couple of my photos in a local paper and on a couple websites to promote this year's event, so there was even more incentive (as if I needed more incentive ... beards!) to return. Other than hilarious beards and mustaches, my favorite part of this event is how friendly everyone is. I love Boston, but sometimes everybody's inexplicable aggression can be a little too much and you just want to be in a friendlier world. That friendlier world apparently has a lot of people with amazing beards and mustaches, as well as people who just enjoy amazing beards and mustaches. It is impossible to leave an event with people like this and not feel better about the world. I've included a few samples below. Some contestants from last year returned, and blew my mind all over again with their hairy face art. So, overall, a great day. Any day laughing a lot and making fun photographs is going to be a great day.

ENJOY ALL O' THIS.

Lucy & Ellen

Last month I had the pleasure of photographing Lucy The Dog and Ellen The Human as a surprise for Ellen's boyfriend, Nick, for Valentine's Day. Ellen stole Lucy for the morning so we could get the shots done and told Nick that she and Lucy were auditioning for a TV show. I don't know how much Nick was fooled by this, but in the end they really enjoyed the prints. We shot by the water with the Boston skyline as a backdrop for some of the images and really lucked out with beautiful weather (even with the wind and low temperatures). Here are a few of Ellen's favorites. Click to enlarge and Enjoy!

Docks

All I knew last night when I went to sleep was that I was waking up extra early to go shoot somewhere. Somehow I ended up at the Dry Docks area in South Boston. Here's the result ... O, and hot chocolate update, of course: Post-production consisted of a large peppermint hot chocolate. Click to enlarge and enjoy the day!

Snow Chocolate

We were hit with a huge snowstorm in Boston the other day, which kind of shut things down for everyone for a little bit. I went out for a walk that night with my camera after things had calmed down a little bit. I really like trying to walk around the city in these situations when everything is a mess, whether or not I have my camera with me. It was pretty cool as the city was pretty much a ghost town. There was an occasional car and sometimes a person walking a shivering dog that was the size of my boot, but then out of nowhere was a Cumberland Farms gas station. Everything thing was closed, but this magical place was open at 11:30 at night (a photo would be appropriate here, but that's not happening). I know, for a fact, that they sell surprisingly good peppermint hot chocolate for $1, but I had no wallet. Why would I when I was walking around in the snow? One dollar is one of my favorite prices too. I also enjoy zero dollars. You were quite a tease, gas station! I'm starting to mention hot chocolate in almost every post now. This will continue.

Enjoy the day! click images to enlarge.
